Patients will often present with symptoms such as leg pain or limb swelling and as such vascular examinations become an important part of their work up.
Feeling for pulses is just one part of a vascular examination, as checking for the subtle signs of vascular disease is a key skill. Much of this will lead to whether further investigation and management of these patients is required.
Venous disease is prevalent in older populations so knowing to pick up the signs of venous insufficiency will help you when working as a junior doctor. Much of this will also help in deciding whether further intervention or investigation is required.
